Teen Vogue Fashion U Experience
This weekend has been
one of the best weekends of my life. For the second time, I got to attend Teen Vogue Fashion University at NYC.
It lasted three days and it was amazing!
The first night
(Friday) they threw us a party at H&M
at 5th avenue, and gave us 20% off, which is a lot. Then on the
second day, we had our seminars. The keynote speaker was Michael Kors. He was so funny and nice, such a good person and
designer. Then I had Alexander Wang. He has a true vision of fashion, and his
style is very plain, but his designs are wonderful. After that, Proenza Schouler guys made their
entrance to the event. Jack McCollough
and Lazaro Hernandez are a pair of young and bright designers that have
accomplished so much at a very early age. They are so humble and nice. It was
my favorite seminar for sure.
Then, it was time for
lunch. I went to a burger place in Times Square with two fellow fashionistas,
Anna Paula and Angeline. Then I headed to Whitney
Port’s seminar. It was nice to hear her point of view and to talk to her,
she’s so smart and a bright businesswoman.
My tour around the Teen Vogue offices was the best. I got
to see Amy Astley in her office, and
she remembered me!! She told me “Hey, you’re from Mexico, right? Did you know Proenza made a collection inspired in
Mexico?”. I was so surprised and happy she remembered me. We went to the famous
closet. It was beyond amazing, filled with every piece from every top designer.
I wish I could have gotten my hands on some of that stuff.
After that, we had the
editor’s panel, where they answered every question from every aspiring
fashionista. They were so nice and helpful. Then it was time for our private Topshop party at SoHo. The atmosphere
was amazing. Filled with really cool people, dressed so chic and original.
Photographers were taking snapshots to the attendees and waiters were giving
small pastries. Topshop gave every TVFU student a 20% discount.
I went out with my
friends from NY, Jacqueline and Nick, whom I met during my semester abroad in
Florence, Italy. It was so nice to see them again. We went to a bar and then to
Nick’s friend’s apartment. We had so much fun remembering old times.
It was Sunday, our
graduation day. We had only one seminar this time. “Fashion in the digital age”,
with wonderful speakers, such as Hillary
Kerr, Katherine Powers, Aliza Licht, Rich Tong, and Susan Koger. TVFU was
sadly over. They took the graduation picture to us and everyone took their own
way.
I took the rest of the day to go shopping at SoHo, the new Uniqlo store at 5th. Avenue, which is super cool. And at night my sister and I went to see Billy Elliot. Such an amazing musical. It’s so emotional and breath-taking. The next day we headed back to Mexico and my trip was over. I had such an amazing time at the city. Now I’m looking for schools to study there when I’m finished here.

RWT Review: Acne SS 2012
As you might have noticed, Acne is one of my favorite fashion houses. Their design is simple, well structured, and different from other labels. Scandinavian fashion is the leading one from my point of view, and Stockholm is the capital of it. Acne's Johnny Johansson added:
"Historically we don't have a fashion background, really," he said after his latest Acne show. "Architecture, yes. Design, yes. But fashion?"
What do you think of that? Do you agree or disagree with him?
I leave you my picks from this WONDERFUL collection. My favorite so far.

RTW Review: Balmain SS 2012
The house of Balmain presented their Spring/Summer 2012 collection on Paris Fashion Week. The pieces are very rock-ish, with a bit of tailoring. Balmain is well known for the care free look, but this time they're adding pastel colors to their designs, which I think is awesome. Here are my favorite looks from the runway:

Teen Vogue Fashion U
Last year, I was accepted to go to Teen Vogue Fashion University, and it was one of the most amazing and gratifying experiences of my life. I got to hear from really important people in the industry about their careers and how to succeed like they did. Last year, I took the following classes: Rachel Roy, Fashion Bloggers (Hanneli Mustaparta, Street Peeper, Judy and Jane Aldridge), Zac Posen, and Vera Wang. And the most important fact: I got to see and hear Anna Wintour in person; she gave the opening remarks.
You can check me out at the video on the TVFU website
Well, this post is specially for announcing that I have been accepted to this year's TVFU!!!!
I couldn't be more excited! I am overjoyed! These are the seminars I'm taking:
- Whitney Port
- Alexander Wang
- Proenza Schouler
- Michael Kors
- Teen Vogue Editors
- Editorial floor tour
Not to mention the two private shopping sessions at H&M and Topshop!!
Quite impressive, right? I am so lucky to be part of this, and I hope it helps on my career.

My weekend at Guadalajara
Two weeks ago, Hernan and me travelled to Guadalajara to meet our friend Roberto to celebrate his birthday. We all met during our semester abroad in Florence, Italy. It was a very fun weekend I must say. Roberto took us to so many nice places, and we ate like crazy, and so delicious!
Guadalajara definitely became one of my top favorite cities in Mexico.

Alexa Chung for Madewell
Alexa is one of my favorite style icons. She is so beautiful and knows quite a lot about style. She partnered with Madewell and developed an amazing collection. It will available in stores and online on September 22nd. Here is the campaign video featuring Alexa Chung wearing her designs. Love them all.

Lanvin, always so creative
I am loving this new campaign of the french fashion house Lanvin, featuring Pitbull. Alber Elbaz appears at the end of the little clip and it's quite funny and it goes against the traditional high scaled campaigns that are sometimes boring. Very nice Lanvin!

My semester abroad in Florence
So basically these past 5 months, I've been living and studying at Florence, Italy. My classes are now over. I was studying at Lorenzo de' Medici, taking only fashion related courses (my passion). I loved every single class, and I also loved my teachers. They were really cool and knew everything about the fashion industry, as they have worked in it.
Florence is a beautiful city, and there are so many things to do. The nightlife is pretty descent. In this picture, I'm with my swedish friends Amanda, Angelica & Elin at Moyo.I met so many wonderful people here, from all over the world: USA, Sweden, Mexico, Brazil, Spain, etc. I made friendships that will last a lifetime. I am a little sad that I'm leaving tomorrow to Mexico. I will miss this town and my friends.

Savage Beauty: McQueen's exhibition at the Met
Here is a guided tour of the latest Alexander McQueen's exhibition at the Met in NYC. I love how every piece has a meaning, and the way he portrayed that into the clothes was completely astonishing. I am so upset I couldn't visit this in person. But this video is pretty well done, and it explains the meaning of everything.

Stockholm
I have been so lazy and haven't posted anything lately. This past couple of months I have been living ans studying at Florence, Italy. But I will tell you all about later. This post is to tell you about one of my latest and best trips ever. I met 5 gorgeous Swedish girls while I was studyng at Florence, and after finishing with our courses, they invited me to spend some days at Stockholm. Their hometown.
We did so many things while I was there. First they took me to the south of the city, to check out the stores and boutiques. Then, it was the national Swedish day, and we went to Skansen, a beautiful park where they have the traditional swedish houses and animals. And that night, Amanda's family prepared a traditional swedish dinner for all of us, which was delicious!
After that, they took me to GrönaLund, and amusement park, located at the river shore. We had so much fun up there, we were like kids again. And the last day , they took me to downtown to do some shopping (my favorite hobby). We did the swedish shopping tour: Weekday, Acne, H&M (of course), Beyond Retro, Åhléns and many more. I was super excited! And I got myself pretty cool stuff, I will show you later.

Katy Perry @ Milan
This weekend has been one of the best of my life! I travelled to Milan, to see Katy Perry's California Dreams tour at Mediolanum Forum, it was AWESOME! She started with "Teenage Dream" and continued with all the amazing songs from her new album. She even sang "Whip my hair" from Willow, and I danced it like nobody was watching me, haha
