Fingerless Gloves

It seems lake we are going to see a lot of fingerless gloves this fall/winter. I personally like the idea of wearing them, they look cool and it gives the outfit that rebel touch. Of course, we have to know when to wear them, they don't go with everything. There are some paradigms about this fashion accessory, like Scott Schuman said "fingerless gloves have always struck me as too raggedy - fine for a punk or a chimney sweep, but that's about it". Here are some examples of the use of this accessory, from fall 2010 designer fashion shows.

Bloggers = free advertising

I recently read an article talking about how brands should take in consideration the big market of bloggers, in order to get to know their target market, to make business strategies. I think it is very true what is said here; bloggers are a massive source of information to costumers, and a great thing about them, is that blogs are already segmented (divided by personalities, ages, topics, etc), and the market expert has nothing to do, but search for the right ones, depending on the product.

Fashion bloggers day to day post about new clothing lines, cool accesories, new brands, about designers, runways, trends, etc. Letting the blog reader appreciate the brand or designer shown on the blog; and for instance, keeping that information for future buying. Blog readers tend to believe more in a blog, than a magazine ad, or t.v. ... So brands get all the advertising without paying a penny.

So what brands should do is focus their attention in bloggers, and find the most popular ones, or the ones that reach their target market, and contact them, show their products, give them some samples, and the blogger will most likely post about it, and a really big audience will see it and will make an impact on them and the brand.

So, if you want to give me some samples, I'll post for sure about them ;)

No Job for me

Hey guys, I haven't been posting lately because I'm very busy with school, but I always take my time to give you an update of what's going on with my life. This past week, I went to American Apparel, here in Monterrey, Mexico, and asked for a job. I wanted to work there because it's a cool brand and I like most of the pieces they sell, and since I live in Mexico, well, there are not too many cool stores to work at.

Before going there, I obviously thought of dressing very cool and fashionable, since I was asking for a clothing brand job, and I've heard they're very selective at that matter. Finally, I found the perfect outfit, skinny jeans. a pretty cool t-shirt from topman, a black synthetic leather American Apparel zipper hoodie, and my light blue shoes from Urban Outfitters.

When I got there, they told me that the regional manager was in town and she'd be glad to interview me, and I was very nervous, because it was my first job. I spoke to her, she took two pictures of me, gave her my resumé and told me to send it by email, altogether with some pictures of me. When she mentioned the pictures, I thought of doing a shoot with the coolest clothes from my closet, mixed with some pieces from the store, of course; these are some of them:

After not hearing from her in one week, I sent her an email, asking what was going on, if they wanted me or not. She answered quote: "thanks for your persistence, but I don't think this is going to work out"... ok? WTF?!?!?

Who wants to work for them anyways, lol

What do you think of the pictures?

Adam Kimmel, fall 2010

It's fashion week everyone!, I'm so excited to see what the designers have to offer this season, and to start with the right foot, I'm choosing Adam Kimmel, this amazing designer / architecture that brings a working man style, mixed with his ideas of art, which I think is the perfect combination. For this fall, he plays with primary colors like red and blue; and velvet, a fabric that not all designers dare to use. I also loved the models wearing freakish masks, it kind of gives the outfit some personality and of course, the branding that is very important today, if anyone wants to make it into this world.

Speaking of fashion week, this tuesday one of the most amazing / creative designers of all time died, Alexander "Lee" McQueen. I'm very sad for this event, and the fashion industry couldn't be more devastated for his loss during the most important event of the year. My condolences to his family. His empire will live forever.
